The Mystery of Consciousness
Over the course of about a century or so, it just stopped being talked about because we understood life to be a process on many different levels. There the mystery just disappeared. The big problem with studying consciousness is that the data are intrinsically subjective. We have to rely at some level on people's subjective reports about what they experience. That does make it harder. And consciousness may not turn out to be like life anywar. It may turned out to be something that requires another kind of explanation.
