The Importance of Execution in Live Trading
It depends on your holding period for your investment strategy. If you're going after a lower frequency risk premiums, something on the order of months or longer, then I think execution is less important. But if you go into higher frequencies, maybe inch a day or days or of course high frequency trading itself, then execution becomes very important. So you may need to set up serious trading platforms because execution maybe will you make a significant fraction of your profits. Okay. Now what stands between you as a research analyst coming up with a new idea, something which you think holds weight has potential? What stands between that point and actually that idea or that new research being implemented into live trading within the fund?
