The first page or the opening of a work says a lot about what this work is going to be about. We learn that it's a man who sacked Troy and he wanders around. He loses his companions because of their own idiocy, a tostoleasin; we don't even know the name of the hero. And I think the focus here makes us think of the end of the poem, when the suitors will lose their lives through their idiocy: Odysseus.
