People Never Think About It
People have a tendency to repeat things they've heard. It's not that there's some sort of nefarious hand behind all of this causing people to think this way, it just happens over time. And if you accept things without looking into them, three seconds with a Google search would have proven that what they're saying is nonsense and yet they never check. When they're pointed out to be imbeciles, they don't even take them down.
