The Lord's Prayer in the Sermon on the Mount - If You Do Not Forgive, You Will Not Be Forgiven
We say the Lord's Prayer frequently, but we ought to take a little bit more notice of the verse that follows the Lord's prayer. If you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven. And so what Christ is doing in the Sermon on the Mount as I understand it is he's asking you to develop a way of living day by day and thinking your way through a sequence. He says first of all, the first beatitude is you've got to practice seeing the truth about your own soul.
