The Evolution of Tools
There actually was no sharp break between our definite ancestors and these earlier Australopithecines. Various groups co-existed, mixed, interbred, learned about tools, forgot about tools, and again expanded and disappeared. The early tools, like those of the old one industry, were simple. They don't even look like much of anything if you don't know what you're looking for. Just some sharp flakes broken off of cores, most of them roundish river cobbles. It's only recently that humanity became this planet's sole occupants.
