Sparking, Ripple, and Comb Through

Sparking means causing to begin. To spark something is to make something begin. For example, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand sparked World War I. If you want to be more informal, you can spark off an argument with somebody. That's a phrasal verb.
