Whistler's Mother by James Abbott McNeil

Untitled is at the Royal Opera House in London until the 17th of June as part of a triple bill with Coribantic Games. Whistler only really painted his mother by accident that's absolutely correct he had another model who was scheduled to come to him but she fell ill and so he decided that he would paint his mother instead. The sitings went incredibly well surprisingly so for Whistler who ordinarily would sometimes take a year and a half to two years to complete a portrait but for his mother the whole painting was done in about three months.
