The Evolution of Plural Marriage in the US
There are some breakaway Mormon groups that maintain the practice of plural marriage. They get prosecuted by local prosecutors, who sometimes will defend themselves on constitutional grounds. So far, we haven't had a case going all the way to the US Supreme Court with the justices agreeing to hear a case like this. The other situation in which it could potentially arise is where refugees come from countries where a plural marriage is lawful.
