Lacerto on Stalinism
Lacerto comes out of a tradition of western Marxism and he also was active in Italy's Communist parties like several of them. He wrote famously a book called like Stalinism where he's essentially defending Stalin as necessary to stabilize the Russian Revolution. But if you actually read Lacerto's book on Stalin it's not defending say the Soviet victory in World War II or anything else but just saying that Stalin played this exceptionally great role as a military leader. Lucerda is not willing to actually interrogate how that kind of flows from this privileging of Soviet interests over the international interests of the working class yeah I've never been able to understand his whole claim on Stalin.
