Ungern and Semenov men both became known for creating an atmosphere of pure fear in their respective cities. Many Jews found themselves in such circumstances that they began to wear crosses on chains so that Ungern's men wouldn't be able to sniff them out. But it didn't always work, and indeed, anytime somebody was identified as a Jew in or around Darya, he or she was murdered on the orders of Ungern. Despite major ideological differences with Hitler, when he came to their policy regarding Jewish peoples, Ungern and Ditler were like twins as separated at birth.
