Is the Science of Consciousness on a Path That's a Little Bit Like General Relativity?
There is a relationship between scientific theory and the tools that we have to run and experiment. We don't yet have single brain imaging technology that is able to cord both in high time resolution, in high spatial resolution. The data by which we test theories of consciousness are of a different kind. It's not some data that we can get from ligo or the james webb telescope and all agree. Now some people say this means you can't do a science of consciousness at all because you're dealing with data that is intrinsically private and subjective. So it adds complication, but it's not a deal a breaker.
