What's the Difference Between Syntax and Phonology Syntax?
My entire PhD thesis was looking at the phonology syntax interface. So how do sounds pattern in different kinds of structures, syllables, words, phrases, clauses? And there are a couple current theories that are very popular in the literature right now. A lot of people will do a theory and look at Japanese and English and maybe Chinese but then just explicitly ignore these languages with extreme morphosyntactic complexity. None of the current theories asked the crucial question, which is if I'm looking for a theory about how sounds pattern at words and phrases and clauses and all that stuff, you've got to go look at a language that blends all those things together as well.
