The Battle of Bellow Wood
The 6th Marine Regiment's commander, Alberta's Catlin, will later recall they had no definite location and were obliged to shell at random in a sort of hit or miss fire. French intelligence says that few Germans are in the woods. Alas, that intel is wrong. In trenchant well protected by the rocky terrain of Bellow wood, numerous Greyclad Germans let loose with their maximum machine guns. The Yanks are dropping dead, all across the field.
