The Origins of Geological Energy on Pluto

There are no big planets around Pluto, which leads us to speculate that it's coming from the inside. It may be that there were some event in the past that has allowed a sort of a deep ocean to exist on this planet. And as it slowly cools, it releases the heat and that drives activity at the surface. Another idea is that when the sun formed 4.5 billion years ago, there were more radioactive elements in the outer edge, more so than in the middle. That is an amazing thought that tells us something about what conditions were like in the solar system right at the very beginning, 4.5billion years ago.
