The Sacrament of Penance

It's very important that our Lord gave us this sacrament of penance so that we could acknowledge our sins. Our reconciliation to God and to the church would also depend upon the decision of another person. I can't just expect my sins to be forgiven automatically but there is a real active conversion on my part required.
