In many ways the ancient slave had it a lot better than the vast majority of corporate cogs do today. The Athenian government and Paulus depended on slave labor but is anybody who spent an hour in corporate America earning a paycheck will tell you our economy very much depends on slave labor as well. "I don't think there's gonna be a kind of an answer we could come to in matters of reflection," he says.
