Decoding the Gurus

CHAPTER

Are We in the Kaliugo, the Age of Conflict?

The idea of the four yugas write, the bronze, silver and olden ages and then the dark age, that these are part of the eternal cycling stages of cosmic time. And so that now we live in the kali ugo, which is the dark time. What are referred to in the cast system as the slaves are the ones who are on top, the common man. That actually someone like steve bannon sees himself as trying to wreak as much chaos as possible. He's obsessed with the traditional order, but to create chaos and destruction so as to bring about a return to the golden age.

who is in charge and who is setting the terms for her relationships. I'm actually glad you said that because I think that Jennifer's messaging through the years has been remarkably consistent. Yes. That also speaks to the kind of single focus that she has maybe or the focus that she has overall. But her message has always remained that. It's really incredible when you listen to that album and you hear the biggest hits and you think this is Jennifer Lopez, right? It was surprising for me to learn that that song hadn't been made for her because it sounds like it was made for her. A hundred percent. The thing about on the six in general and this song in particular, I mean, they really went, they got the best producers. They got the best songwriters. They took a lot of care in delivering this kind of very sleek pop sound. They really worked that sound to kind of get to that mix that you were mentioning, Louis, that, yeah, it has a little bit of Latin, but it has a little bit of this. There's a lot of production work on this album. No question. And there's a lot of great songs. She got good selections here, which I think speaks to probably how much they were throwing down on her because of how successful her movie career had been. This song obviously hits number one. I think probably to many people, surprise to see a movie star come out the gate with a giant pop hit.

Obviously, the video also an incredibly important part of this, which is such a Y2K style music video where she's getting kind of cyber stalked by this horny guy who's watching her in her house unbeknownst to her. It's an interesting little video that's going on, but she looks absolutely gorgeous. It looks amazing. And there's an amazing dance breakdown that comes in the middle of it where the music speeds up and she gets to kind of show off the choreography element, which is another really important element, obviously, of her pop stardom. But the video is an emblem of 1999. It just looks exactly like every video did. She's in some sort of random spaceship setting.
