Episode #4 - Real Ninjas?
Our Fake History
00:00
The Ninjas' Disdain for Japan's Tradition
In his quest to unite all of Japan under one central government, Oda Nobunaga could not abide the ninjas having their own autonomous democratic provinces right in the middle of Japan. The only way into the Eiga province was through small mountain passes that the ninja defended using camouflaged, earthen forts. Hatori Hanzo led a group of survivors in a daring escape into the wilderness through the ninja training ground and Yamabushi haunt known as the 48 waterfalls. Eventually Aiyesu would rise up as Japan's ultimate unifier, bringing an end to the Warring period and establishing a shogunate that would rule Japan for the next 265 years.
