The Role of the Public in Artificial Intelligence

So much of the R&D for these kinds of technologies is offloaded already. It's the riskiest part of the business and it's offloaded to the public. The public pays for the most dangerous dimensions of what the companies do because they have partnerships with academic labs. And then they regulate downstream and say it's on you to figure out whether it's safe or not.
