The Deficit Myth
The deficit isn't some bank account of the government that's getting overdrawn. It is the sum total of all the deficits run since the dawn of the currency, basically. So actually targeting an arbitrary figure like a specific figure makes no sense. And then another thing that I quite like to unpack is it's actually impossible for a government to save in the currency that it issues. But if you imagine it, what people have got in their heads, I think, and it's very strange.
