Researchers tried to confirm this conclusion using three d models and virtual reality soft ware. The pattern of the heat damage suggested that the stones had been held near the fire intentionally. A team off the coast of southern france is trying to preserve a cave system full of prehistoric art before it is lost to plastic pollution and climate change. This site is the only known location of cave art of prehistoric marine animals.
