What Are the Criminal Referrals?

There are good reasons not to be cynical here. The largest reason is the coordination between the January 6th Committee and the Department of Justice. Every indication we have is that special prosecutor Jack Smith has been incredibly aggressive. This serves as external pressure. It's a pretty good indicator of where the DOJ's head is right now. I feel reasonably confident that somebody at the Merrick Garland level or below might have said, hey, can we not have a parade float staged with all of the referrals? Because this is going to make us look bad when we don't do anything.
