Radika was disturbed by how often doctors would refer to patients as data points rather than as people. She saw a conflict of interest between the commercial interests of tech companies and the human interests of patients. Small clinics and regions surrounding the hospital scanned the eyes and bodies of patients with different diagnostic tools. Algorithmic systems were tested directly on patients. People in villages were forced to sign consent forms, sometimes couldn't even read. It was either that or received no treatment.
