The primavera uses the term institutional scaffolding to think literally about structures that would allow the growth of relational dynamics. We want to understand how do you design institutions in a way that can support relational dynamics or institutional dynamics and similarly, how do institutional dynamics need or rely on or look to institutions to support them? I think there's another important aspect of the big picture of institutional theory which is this notion of persistence or sometimes we talk about it as success. It's one thing to recognize that a community is important for the success of let's say a company but we're still looking at is the company still in operation not just an institution.
