Energy companies want to freeze bills at the current level now for two years. They reckon that would cost a hundred billion pounds. Better off households will get the same relief as poorer households. Businesses are not protected by the price cap and could see huge increases in prices. Thousands of businesses may go under if they can't pay this winter. This is a threat to the whole economy.
