The Importance of Inequality in Turkey

India has a lot more poverty in both relative and absolute terms than Turkey. But I think we also have a lot more wealth in India than there is in Turkey especially if you look at the last 20 years. The effective part of our economy that is integrated into the world is not so different from Turkey's. We are in essentially the same situation where the decision for demonetization is announced by the Prime Minister rather than the Governor of the Reserve Bank. Is the charisma of the leader strong in the communities and classes and other segments of the country that are going to be the losers or the winners in the economic changes that is what starts to matter? It depends on which particular segments is he popular
