The Positive Effects of Japanese Colonialism on Taiwan

During the colonial era there were many people in Taiwan who were highly critical of colonialism. But then you add to that what came in later and the sort of the combination I think is why Taiwanese today, by and large, have a relatively favorable view of Japan. And so if we can continue to what came later, right? So at the end of World War II, the Japanese almost evaporated back into Japan after 50 years of having significant presence on the island. That was kind of shocking and kind of unsettling for people in Taiwan.
