Sridharamakrishna says that meditation, you meditate in three things. To contemplate objects of the senses with the feeling that these are nice. In Hindi say, mat wabudhi. These are good, worthwhile. So this creates a taste in the mind and pulls the mind outward. It externalizes the mind and increases the struggle when you are trying to meditate.
