How to Create a Wakefield in a Plasma

A plasma is a hot gas with electrons and protons bound together. You can create waves in it by pulling on the electrons or zap all the electrons, get them to move in one direction. This creates an electric field which you can then use to accelerate particles. It's not literally a current, but yeah, you're creating these waves of electrons through the plasma.
