The north star metric for andy hackers is around engaged email subscribers. And everything else flows from there, including more thoughtful discussions on the home page. The most successful communities often are not metric driven at the early stage of a company's life. But when you're tring to find community market fit, i think it's ok to just be thinking about intangibles over metrics.
