Is Our Taste for Alcohol a Mistake?
If our taste for alcohol is a mistake, there's a solution to it that exists in the human gene pool. This is this set of two mutations that interferes with alcohol metabolism and leads to what's sometimes called Asian flushing syndrome. It probably happened around 7, 10,000 years ago around present day Shanghai. And so there is a genetic solution and it just sits there. There are cultural evolutionary solutions, ban alcohol.
