Trump has a lot of defenses that he's likely to raise about executive authority, about his role as president on that day. The whole point of the reasonable doubt standard for a criminal conviction and proving it to a jury of 12 peers is you don't want the government to be able to railroad anyone, even if it is Donald Trump. It does seem like we are in an unprecedented circumstance of a former president who just is in a heap of legal liability.
