Thete's a Long Treatise, Not Dialectic
Hobbs' work is a treatise on the nature of man. He says that people are selfish and should do whatever they can to further their own ends. Thete's something aesthetically pleasing about that as well, because you're not exposed to that in temporary writing. And this is also, i think, stylistically, very much a this is the way things are. I am telling you, of course, this is the Way Things Are.
