Immigrants From the Periphery of Europe and Eastern Europe Didn't Come to the United States
About 80% of immigration in late 19th and early 20th century came from southern Europe. Most immigrants from the periphery of Europe didn't come to the United States. Barto Venzeti was trained to be a skilled candy maker, he spent four years learning how to become a candy maker. He could go out and get a job after his apprenticeship but that trade was in decline because giant companies like Nestle had learned how to mass produce candy.
