In the spring of 19 forty three, obata documented a tragedy. A 63 year old man named james walcasa was taking an after dinner stroll around the perimeter of the camp when a guard shot him dead. Although obata didn't witness the shooting, he made a painting of wacasa doubled over and falling to the ground. The painting called wacasa shot by m is at the national museum of american history. It just kind of sums up the situation, the climate, the racesm the war, hysteria. Just like in a nutshew in obatas drawing, he knew that historically, this was a a proof that the guns were aimed inside.
