Is It Hard to Keep the Version Straight in Your Head?

Every time i pick it back up, i have to start from the beginning. So i've probably read it about 50 times as well. I'll probably never read it againa ha, ha, ha. That's amazing. How do you keep the version straight in your head? Like if you're starting from the beginning, but you've started from the beginning forty times, how do you remember?
