China's Food Supply Crisis - A Brief History

The stability of food supply has been absolutely central to china's history over the past 60 years. One of the key moments came in may 19 80, when china allowed cap ist activity for the very first time since the communist revolution. Four cities known as the special economic zones were designated for the experiment. The most successful was chengen, which grew from a mainly rural area specializing in pigs and lightchees, to one of china's biggest cities.
