This week, great swathes of the northern hemisphere are enduring sweltering heat. Heat waves ave effected roughly two thirds of china's population since mid june. Scientists point to climate change, which also explains recent torrential downpours and flooding in australia. But much of the world's population lives near water, and with ocean levels expected to rise, dramatically in coming decades, there's likely to be trouble ahead.
