We Don't Pay Attention to Democracy Anymore
The last really big change we made was in 19 71, when we amended the constitution to make the voting age 18. But since then, we kind of been like, whatever. We didn't really pay attention when the federalist societies stacked our courts with right winged justices. One third of the country doesn't vote at all. Our government is not really by the people for the people any more. It's more like by the people who were paying attention for the people in power. And it's not working. People are cruising through life assuming american democracy is a given,. But it's not.
