The Fed Should Shrink the Balance Sheet

The Fed basically bought every mortgage in the United States that was originated those two months. The Treasury really needed that money quickly, and markets were in trouble. So it was building up a huge, huge deposit at the Fed. I've been talking about this since 2014, 2015. The Fed should shrink the balance sheet. We have to have some sort of governance structure that puts pressure on that entity when it doesn't need to.
