The Importance of Passive Voice in Writing

If you can add by zombies to the end of the sentence, then it is passive voice. The character reader's emotional reaction is going to depend on what they thought of that character. Adverbs by themselves don't work well. You have to also incorporate passive voice. For instance, a mugging happens in your story unexpectedly and your character is saved by a cop walking by or not? It depends on your goals as a writer for that scene.
