The History of Kebesa Devaka

The surgery is generally recognized as the first recorded surgical procedure done in what is now Texas. Kebesa Devaka wrote, quote, "'As this cure gave us such standing throughout the land that they esteemed and valued us to the utmost capacity" When a group of surgeons organized the Texas Surgical Society in 1915, they adopted him as their patron saint due to his historic operation.
