"I wanted to feel like LA was a character and let LA take ownership of a Donas," he said. "The battle of laws and inches is something I wanted to coin." The white trunks were at a time and error the American flag, but now they mean something else. There's a lot of little symbolism to how Donnie and how he represented himself getting into the ring.
