Tolkien's Waters

We see the use of water a lot in Tolkien's works. You'll notice that some of the locations that the elves live have rivers around them or rivers that run through them. Water represents healing and cleaning and of renewal and wakefulness. Also, think about it. When you want to wake up in the morning and you splash water on your face, there's a lot going on there with water.
