The Importance of Identity in the USA
I think that American Muslims are different or they have different engagement with Islam than me. So an American Muslim have this challenge with identity. They don't feel like they are American enough for the Americans, Muslims are not for Muslims. And so I noticed that change from the American Muslims. Now, the number Muslims in America, ironically, I found them to be very receptive to Hawaiian. Like American Muslim, we sometimes class, but with non-Muslims, they somehow see me as an authentic representation.
