The web is already so crazy with the CSS quirks and all that kind of stuff. Like for example, I just built these alert components. They show up on the page in other places where a screen reader user is not looking with their virtual cursor. And so what you need to do is let the screen reader know, hey, something happened and then either interrupt what the user is doing and tell them about it or wait until the user's idle and then tell them aboutIt.
