The Demise of Jefferson
The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776. The 50th anniversary of the declaration is this year; it's also Thomas Jefferson's death day. In 1826, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson are still alive but their health is fading. They write to each other saying they have one foot in the grave and the other uplifted to follow. And then late in the evening on July 3, 1826, Jefferson dies from prostate cancer.
