The landscape of dog research is remarkably different than it was when you first started 20 years ago. Why is the dog the perfect entry into this study? Because they are ubiquitous, available and cognitively far more skilled than we'd given them credit for. You can play with them and give them a pat on the head in a way you can't with other non-humans.
