The big thing that I try to do is not have anything that I'm like staring at regularly that I don't know what it is or understand. And if you're not actively trying to do this your life will just be full of stuff you don't understand. That's the biggest thing that I personally really lean on. It has this compounding effect because if you actually understand every character in the file like every line of code and you really really understand what it does, then it compounds like the mental model that you're building of the program.
